ABOUT THE ROLE The Unexploded Ordnance Tech II role is a critical component of the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center mission on Andros Island, Bahamas. You will support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center by ensuring exercise torpedoes and associated equipment are handled, maintained, and transported safely and in compliance with NAVAIR, NAVSEA, and NAVFAC guidelines. This position requires a blend of mechanical, electrical, and logistical expertise to keep the test range operational and to support training and evaluation activities for the U.S. Navy and its partners. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on MK‑46, MK‑50, MK‑48, and other exercise torpedoes, troubleshooting faults and ensuring readiness for each deployment. You will operate tractor‑trailer, forklift, and overhead crane equipment, conducting rigging operations in accordance with NAVFAC standards. You will handle, package, and transport hazardous ordnance material up to 1.1 percent, following NAVORD procedures, and operate the torpedo data extraction computer to capture mission data. You will maintain the breathing air system used during torpedo operations, ensuring safety for all personnel. You will collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team, communicate status updates to supervisors, and support additional duties as assigned. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You must hold a U.S. Secret clearance and be a U.S. citizen, with the ability to maintain the clearance throughout employment. You should have an Associate’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least two years in a torpedo shop environment and one year of electronics technology experience related to REXTORP preparations and data extraction. Valid driver’s license, passport, and certifications in forklift, tractor‑trailer, and overhead crane operations are required, along with NAVOSH/OSHA respirator certification and CPR/First Aid training. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work in high‑temperature, hazmat‑suit environments, and pass annual physicals for Otto Fuel II and HEP handling. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and excellent oral and written communication are essential.
