ABOUT THE ROLE Storage King Group is the leading self‑storage provider across Australia and New Zealand, operating more than 200 high‑traffic locations. We are expanding rapidly and need an energetic, customer‑focused Assistant Manager to join our distributed team. In this role you will partner with the Store Manager to drive operational excellence, elevate the customer experience, and support a high‑performing team. Your influence will shape the day‑to‑day success of the store, ensuring we meet revenue targets while maintaining the friendly, community‑centric culture that sets Storage King apart. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and inventory management. You will coach and motivate a team of associates, providing on‑the‑job training and performance feedback to build a cohesive, high‑energy crew. You will manage customer interactions, resolving issues promptly and turning challenges into opportunities for loyalty. You will monitor key performance indicators, analyze sales data, and recommend actions to improve profitability and service quality. You will collaborate with the Store Manager on merchandising, marketing initiatives, and community outreach to drive foot traffic and revenue. You will maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for customers and staff. WHAT YOU'LL NEED A proven background in retail, sales, or hospitality, with a track record of delivering exceptional customer service. Strong leadership skills, able to inspire a team, set clear goals, and hold people accountable. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information simply. Self‑motivation and initiative, capable of working independently while aligning with broader store objectives. Problem‑solving aptitude, turning obstacles into actionable solutions and taking ownership of outcomes. Goal‑oriented mindset, driven to exceed sales targets and operational benchmarks. Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods; a valid driver’s licence is preferred for occasional store visits.
