ABOUT THE ROLE
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses, empowering millions of companies to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. As a Technical Program Manager, you will play a key role in leading complex programs across multiple engineering, product, and cross-functional teams to solve complex problems and empower Stripe and our users.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for the successful definition, cross-functional strategy, planning, and execution of large-scale technical programs. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Independently defining, scoping, and driving functional and technical delivery of key team and org-wide programs/initiatives
- Partnering with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and other cross-functional partners to define, scope, and drive large programs to conclusion
- Developing, implementing, and iterating on program management techniques, frameworks, and KPIs to achieve goals with well-defined success criteria
- Making substantial improvements to how the teams you work with communicate and operate to significantly increase productivity and efficiency
- Defining and producing high-quality written proposals, communications, and documentation
- Leveraging data and acquired knowledge to inform technical decisions and contribute to your organization's strategy
- Creating widely circulated plans, driving consistency, clarity, and building alignment across teams
- Helping influence peers/leaders and build consensus while dealing with ambiguity
- Mentoring new TPMs and actively contributing to the TPM hiring process
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be considered for this role, you should meet the minimum requirements:
- 6+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, and/or technical program management experience
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to digest complex information and make recommendations
- A track record of independently managing programs across all phases of software development from kick-off to launch, demonstrating critical thinking, challenging the norms, and thought leadership
- Very strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, teams, and senior leaders around the organization
- The ability to drive internal and external process improvements across multiple teams and functions, bringing a wealth of experience, opinions, proposals, and best practices
- Experience operating autonomously and leading large-scale efforts across multiple teams and functions, with stakeholders in different disciplines across time zones
- The ability to understand how functionality comes together (across products and platforms) to deliver value for users, and identify/mitigate delivery risks proactively; can propose and drive a technical solution
- A users-first and customer-focused mindset
