ABOUT THE ROLE
The Team Manager – Newtownards Extra – is a pivotal leadership position within Tesco’s retail network. You will be at the heart of the store, driving a culture that places customers, colleagues and community at the centre of everything we do. Your mission is to deliver exceptional service, maximise sales and presentation, and create a safe, compliant and inspiring environment for both shoppers and staff. This role requires a hands‑on, floor‑level presence, where you will lead by example, support your team, and continuously seek ways to improve the customer experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will manage day‑to‑day store operations, ensuring that all departments run smoothly and meet performance targets. You will coach and develop a high‑performing team, recognising talent and providing constructive feedback to help staff reach their potential. You will collaborate with cross‑functional partners to implement merchandising plans, visual displays and promotional activities that drive sales. You will monitor compliance with health and safety standards, manage inventory and handle cash and loss prevention responsibilities. You will act as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries and complaints, turning challenges into opportunities to strengthen loyalty. Finally, you will report on key metrics, analyse trends and propose data‑driven initiatives to senior management.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You have a proven track record in retail management, preferably within a large supermarket or similar environment. You possess strong people‑management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop a diverse team. Excellent communication, negotiation and problem‑solving abilities are essential, as is a customer‑first mindset. You are comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic setting. A solid understanding of retail technology, inventory systems and financial reporting is required. You must hold a valid driver’s licence and be able to travel within the region as needed.
