Grafana
Staff Product Manager, OpenTelemetry | US | Remote
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Grafana Labs is redefining observability by building an open‑source‑first cloud platform that empowers millions of developers and operators to see, understand, and act on their telemetry. As a Staff Product Manager for the OpenTelemetry Experience, you will own the end‑to‑end journey that brings OpenTelemetry data into Grafana Cloud, from initial instrumentation to actionable insights. Your work will shape how developers, agents, and operators choose, configure, and validate telemetry across SDKs, automatic instrumentation, and collectors, ensuring a seamless, trustworthy experience that drives adoption and retention.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will define and execute the product roadmap for OpenTelemetry onboarding, including SDK configuration, automatic instrumentation, and client‑side collector deployment. You will collaborate with engineering, design, and UX to create clear, machine‑readable guidance that helps users and coding agents select the right instrumentation path and troubleshoot failures. You will partner with Application Observability, Kubernetes Monitoring, and Infrastructure Observability teams to align validation signals and telemetry quality checks across the stack. You will measure success through adoption metrics, telemetry health scores, and customer satisfaction, iterating rapidly based on data and feedback. You will advocate for the OpenTelemetry community, representing Grafana’s vision at conferences, in forums, and in open‑source discussions.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You have 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years in a staff or senior role leading cross‑functional product initiatives. You possess deep technical knowledge of observability, distributed tracing, metrics, and logging, and you can translate complex telemetry concepts into user‑friendly experiences. You are comfortable working with open‑source ecosystems, have experience with OpenTelemetry or similar standards, and can influence engineering teams in a fully remote, globally distributed environment. Your communication skills are exceptional; you can articulate product vision to executives, explain technical trade‑offs to engineers, and write clear, concise documentation for developers. You thrive in ambiguous situations, making data‑driven decisions while balancing customer needs, technical feasibility, and business impact.
WHY REMOTE
Grafana Labs is a 100 % remote company that values asynchronous collaboration, trust, and autonomy. Your day will be structured around flexible hours that accommodate the U.S. Eastern Time zone while allowing you to work when you are most productive. The distributed culture means you will interact with colleagues across 40+ countries, bringing diverse perspectives to every decision. Remote work empowers you to design your own environment, reduces commute time, and supports a healthy work‑life balance, all while contributing to a global product that powers critical infrastructure for leading enterprises.
BENEFITS
Competitive health, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents. Generous paid time off, a flexible paid parental leave policy, and a remote stipend to support home‑office setup. Unlimited learning budget and access to industry conferences, courses, and certifications. A culture of continuous feedback, career development plans, and the opportunity to shape the future of observability at a rapidly growing, investor‑backed company.
