Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE Grafana Labs is building the world’s most open observability platform, trusted by more than 35 million users and thousands of enterprise customers. As Staff Product Manager for the OpenTelemetry Experience, you will lead the end‑to‑end journey that brings OpenTelemetry data into Grafana Cloud. Your mission is to make the platform the simplest, most reliable destination for instrumentation, reducing uncertainty and failure points for developers, operators, and coding agents. You will shape a coherent experience that spans SDK onboarding, automatic instrumentation, collector deployment, and validation, ensuring telemetry arrives healthy, correctly attributed, and ready for actionable insights. This role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, design, and go‑to‑market teams, and requires a deep understanding of the OpenTelemetry ecosystem and the broader observability stack. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will own the product roadmap for OpenTelemetry instrumentation, defining priorities that balance customer pain points, engineering feasibility, and strategic impact. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design onboarding flows for SDKs, automatic instrumentation, and client‑side collectors, and to embed machine‑readable context that guides both humans and coding agents through configuration and troubleshooting. You will partner with Application Observability, Kubernetes Monitoring, and Infrastructure Observability groups to align validation signals and telemetry quality checks, ensuring a seamless transition from data ingestion to actionable dashboards. You will advocate for the user experience in all product decisions, translating complex technical requirements into clear, compelling product stories for stakeholders and customers. You will measure success through adoption metrics, telemetry health scores, and customer satisfaction, iterating rapidly based on data and feedback. Finally, you will mentor junior product managers and contribute to Grafana’s open‑source culture by engaging with community contributors and open standards bodies. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You bring at least 8 years of product management experience, with a proven track record in observability, monitoring, or distributed systems. Deep knowledge of OpenTelemetry, SDKs, collectors, and automatic instrumentation is essential, as is experience working with coding agents or similar automation tools. You are comfortable translating complex technical concepts into customer‑centric narratives and have a data‑driven mindset for prioritization and impact measurement. Strong communication skills enable you to coordinate across globally distributed engineering, design, and go‑to‑market teams. You thrive in a fast‑moving, open‑source environment, and you are passionate about building products that empower developers and operators worldwide. A background in leading cross‑functional initiatives and a history of delivering measurable product outcomes will set you apart. WHY REMOTE Grafana Labs is a fully distributed organization with over 1,600 employees across 40+ countries. Our remote culture is built on asynchronous collaboration, transparent decision‑making, and a focus on results rather than hours. You will work with teammates in different time zones, using shared documentation, video calls, and real‑time chat to stay aligned. The flexibility of a remote role allows you to design a schedule that maximizes productivity and work‑life balance, while still contributing to a high‑impact, globally visible product. We invest in tools and processes that support distributed teams, ensuring you have the same level of engagement and influence as any on‑site colleague. BENEFITS Competitive health, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents. Generous paid time off and a flexible holiday policy. A remote working stipend to support your home office setup. A learning and development budget for courses, conferences, and certifications. Equity participation in a high‑growth, venture‑backed company. Inclusive, open‑source‑driven culture that values transparency, autonomy, and continuous improvement.
