Staff Product Manager, OpenTelemetry | Canada | Remote

ABOUT THE ROLE Grafana Labs is building the world’s most trusted open observability platform. As Staff Product Manager for the OpenTelemetry Experience, you will own the entire customer journey from the first decision to instrument a workload to the moment telemetry is healthy, actionable and fully integrated into Grafana Cloud. You will shape a unified experience that guides developers, agents and operators through SDK onboarding, automatic instrumentation, collector deployment, and troubleshooting, ensuring that every telemetry signal is correctly attributed, validated and ready for observability insights. Your work will influence multiple product lines, from Application Observability to Kubernetes Monitoring, and will drive the adoption of coding agents that automate instrumentation at scale. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Define and execute a product vision that unifies OpenTelemetry onboarding, configuration, and validation across SDKs, automatic instrumentation, and collectors. - Collaborate with engineering, design, UX and go‑to‑market teams to translate customer pain points into prioritized roadmaps and feature specifications. - Create machine‑readable guidance and validation signals that empower both humans and coding agents to choose, configure, and verify instrumentation safely. - Own success metrics for telemetry quality, onboarding time, and first‑value activation, and iterate based on data and user feedback. - Champion a seamless transition from raw telemetry ingestion to activating the appropriate Grafana Cloud observability solution, ensuring a frictionless hand‑off to downstream teams. - Represent Grafana’s OpenTelemetry strategy in external forums, partner ecosystems and community events, positioning the company as a leader in open standards. WHAT YOU'LL NEED - 8+ years of product management experience in observability, monitoring or related SaaS platforms, with a track record of leading cross‑functional teams to launch complex, high‑impact features. - Deep understanding of OpenTelemetry concepts, SDKs, collectors, and automatic instrumentation tools such as Beyla, including deployment patterns and common failure modes. - Proven ability to synthesize technical detail into clear, customer‑centric roadmaps and product collateral. - Strong analytical skills to define success metrics, run experiments, and iterate based on data. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working in fully distributed, global teams. - A passion for open source, open standards and building products that empower developers and operators worldwide.
