Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE Chime is a financial technology company on a mission to help millions of members unlock financial progress. As a Staff Engineer, Growth, you will be part of the Growth Engineering team, responsible for building the product surfaces and systems that turn Chime's mission into measurable outcomes for members. You will operate as a subject matter expert and technical leader across the Growth stack, shaping the architecture and technical strategy for high-traffic, member-facing systems, and influencing product direction to drive cross-team initiatives that measurably move growth outcomes. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Staff Engineer, Growth, you will lead the design and implementation of high-impact, member-facing systems across the Growth stack. You will set the technical vision for high-traffic systems with a scalable, forward-looking approach that meets Chime's reliability and latency standards. You will drive experimentation strategy and execution by building the systems and habits to test, learn, and iterate quickly, without sacrificing durability. You will also identify and solve systemic challenges in performance, availability, and conversion-critical reliability across the Growth stack. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with Product, Design, Analytics, and Data to shape product direction and ensure technical feasibility and excellence. You will mentor senior engineers, elevate engineering practices, and drive consistency in quality, architecture, and code craftsmanship across teams. You will also represent Chime externally through recruiting, open source, technical talks, or community engagement. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To thrive in this role, you will have 10+ years of experience in software engineering, a deep understanding of system design, service boundaries, and product-engineering tradeoffs, especially in high-traffic consumer systems. You will have a track record of driving measurable impact on business and engineering goals, ideally in growth, conversion, activation, or other consumer product problems. You will also have experience with experimentation: test design, instrumentation, analysis, and iterating on results. You will need to be able to influence technical and product direction across teams and orgs, and to lead through influence rather than authority. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as well as experience working in a fast-paced, product-focused environment. Fintech experience is a plus. WHY REMOTE As a remote employee, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere and be part of a team that is passionate about helping everyday Americans unlock their financial progress. You will be part of a company that values entrepreneurship, diversity, and integrity, and is committed to earning and keeping people's trust. BENEFITS The base salary for this role will begin at $223,000.00 and up to $308,000.00, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits.
