Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE Twilio is a global communications platform that empowers developers to build, scale, and innovate across voice, messaging, video, and data. As a Senior Tax and Compliance Analyst (Payroll) you will be a key member of our People & Operations team, ensuring that our payroll tax and compliance processes meet the highest standards of accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory adherence. You will work closely with Finance, Legal, and Global Payroll to design, implement, and continuously improve tax workflows that support Twilio’s rapid growth and expanding international footprint. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Lead the end‑to‑end payroll tax compliance for the United States and oversee compliance for key international jurisdictions. - Prepare and review all payroll tax filings, including federal, state, local, and foreign tax returns, ensuring 100 % accuracy and on‑time submission. - Partner with Global Payroll and Finance to audit payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and implement corrective actions. - Develop and maintain documentation for tax policies, procedures, and audit trails in accordance with internal controls and external regulatory requirements. - Provide expert guidance to business units on tax implications of new product launches, compensation changes, and cross‑border employment arrangements. - Serve as the point of contact for external tax authorities, auditors, and consultants during audits and inquiries. WHAT YOU'LL NEED - 5+ years of progressive experience in payroll tax compliance, preferably within a high‑growth tech company. - In‑depth knowledge of U.S. payroll tax regulations (federal, state, local) and familiarity with international payroll tax frameworks (e.g., EU, Canada, APAC). - Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail, with a proven track record of delivering error‑free filings under tight deadlines. - Proficiency with payroll systems (Workday, ADP, or similar) and advanced Excel capabilities for data analysis and reporting. - Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex tax requirements into clear, actionable guidance for non‑tax stakeholders. - Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment, managing priorities and collaborating across time zones. WHY REMOTE Twilio’s distributed culture is built on trust, autonomy, and asynchronous collaboration. As a remote team member, you will enjoy the flexibility to structure your day around your most productive hours while staying connected through regular virtual stand‑ups, cross‑functional workshops, and informal coffee chats. Our remote-first approach empowers you to maintain a healthy work‑life balance, reduce commute time, and contribute to a diverse, global team that shares a common mission to transform communication. BENEFITS Twilio offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes top‑tier health, dental, and vision coverage; a generous paid time off policy and paid parental leave; a remote work stipend to support your home office; and a learning and development budget for courses, certifications, and conferences. You will also receive access to wellness programs, employee assistance resources, and a competitive equity plan that rewards your impact on the company’s success.
