Senior Staff Sales Engineer, Singapore

ABOUT THE ROLE The Senior Staff Sales Engineer will play a critical role in helping define the future of database infrastructure. As a seasoned expert in scalable, distributed systems, you will help qualify and close opportunities with customers and partners, providing technical expertise through sales presentations, product demonstrations, and supporting technical evaluations. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Staff Sales Engineer, you will work alongside the sales team to introduce CockroachDB to potential customers, educating them on the unique capabilities of the product and designing solutions to meet a wide variety of challenges. Your responsibilities will include leading product and solution briefings, building proof-of-concepts, running live product demos, and prototyping CockroachDB integrations. You will also partner with Cockroach Labs product management, engineering, and support teams to solve customer challenges and improve CockroachDB. You will identify and address customers' key technical objections and develop strategies to resolve those blockers to adoption. In your first 30 days, you will immerse yourself in CockroachDB and our sales motion, becoming familiar with our company, technology, and message. After 90 days, you will be ready to lead customer meetings without support and conduct proof-of-concepts. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will have 10-12+ years of prior experience collecting requirements, developing solution architectures, leading presentations, and teaching prospective users or project teams how to use software similar to CockroachDB. You will have developed software or infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems in the past and want to stay close to the code. You will also have a passion for working on complex technical problems and a strong understanding of modern infrastructure and database technologies. You will have a strong ability to build relationships with our partners, customers, and open-source users. You will also have a demonstrated practice of integrating AI tools into your daily workflow to improve speed, quality, and decision-making. Fluency with AI across core tasks is essential. A collaborative spirit and flexibility to travel to meet customers, attend events, or conferences are also required.
