Senior Software Engineer, Onboarding

ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Onboarding team at Coinbase. As a key member of this team, you'll play a critical role in building the systems that power user onboarding and KYC across every Coinbase product and market. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Software Engineer on the Onboarding team, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and scaling backend services in Golang that power onboarding and KYC workflows across multiple products and geographies. Your key responsibilities will include: - Building scalable, service-oriented systems using modern cloud infrastructure and industry best practices to solve novel platform challenges - Driving improvements to onboarding and MTU conversion funnels by identifying bottlenecks and shipping data-informed solutions - Partnering with engineers, product managers, designers, and senior leadership to translate product and technical vision into quarterly execution roadmaps - Leading cross-cutting design reviews within your product area, ensuring security, operational integrity, and architectural clarity across all features shipped WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you'll need to have: - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building, scaling, and maintaining production backend services in a service-oriented architecture - Proven track record designing distributed systems that operate reliably at scale, including experience with cloud-native tooling (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP) - Proficiency in Golang or a similar statically-typed language, with demonstrated ability to write well-tested, production-grade code - Experience owning end-to-end delivery of platform capabilities, from technical design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration - Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality WHY REMOTE Coinbase is a remote-first company, but not remote-only.
