Software Engineer, CDP - Payment Acceptance

ABOUT THE ROLE Coinbase is building the most trusted stablecoin payment rail for global commerce, and the CDP Payment Acceptance team is at the heart of that effort. As a Software Engineer on this team you will shape the end‑to‑end experience that powers merchant checkout, subscriptions, and on‑chain settlement across multiple EVM chains. Your work will directly influence how businesses of all sizes accept stablecoins, driving both adoption and economic freedom. You will collaborate with product, design, and engineering colleagues across the Coinbase ecosystem to deliver a seamless, high‑performance payment experience. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will own the full lifecycle of new features, from designing Go gRPC services and TypeScript APIs to building React/Next.js checkout components. You will develop durable, fault‑tolerant payment workflows with Temporal, ensuring reliable on‑chain settlement, refunds, and reconciliation against PostgreSQL. You will instrument every change with structured logs, metrics, and Datadog traces, and you will participate in on‑call rotations for the services you ship. You will partner with Product, Design, and other engineering groups to integrate Payment Acceptance into the broader Coinbase developer platform. You will continuously iterate on the buyer checkout UI, focusing on conversion, accessibility, and performance, and you will maintain clear design documentation and runbooks to support cross‑team collaboration. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You bring at least three years of professional full‑stack engineering experience, with proven expertise in Go (concurrency, gRPC, testing) and TypeScript/React (hooks, suspense, server components, Next.js). You have a strong background in relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and you can design schemas, write migrations, and optimize queries for transactional correctness. You have designed APIs using protobuf/gRPC or REST, and you are comfortable instrumenting production systems with structured observability tools such as Datadog or OpenTelemetry. You have experience building durable workflow systems like Temporal or Cadence, or working with EVM blockchains and stablecoin payment patterns. You write clear design documents, PR descriptions, and runbooks that enable operational maturity. You responsibly use generative AI tools to enhance productivity while maintaining human oversight and delivering business‑ready outputs.
