ABOUT THE ROLE MongoDB’s Database Experience team is a high‑impact group focused on enabling customers to manage their MongoDB deployments at global scale. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Developer Tools Team, you will design and build the next generation of APIs and user interfaces that power MongoDB Atlas, Compass, and the Atlas Data Explorer. Your work will directly influence how thousands of developers and data engineers interact with data, monitor performance, and troubleshoot issues across multi‑cloud environments. You will collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and infrastructure teams to translate customer needs into reliable, scalable solutions that uphold MongoDB’s reputation for performance and ease of use. WHAT YOU’LL DO You will architect and implement end‑to‑end features for both the front‑end and back‑end of MongoDB’s developer tooling ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration between the UI, APIs, and underlying services. You will lead the design of high‑availability, horizontally scalable services that expose data and metrics to users, leveraging modern cloud‑native patterns. You will write clean, well‑tested code in TypeScript, Node.js, and React, and maintain the dependency graph across the toolchain. You will work closely with the DevOps team to deploy and monitor services on Kubernetes, applying best practices for observability and resilience. You will mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and champion a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing. You will troubleshoot complex, distributed problems, using telemetry and debugging tools to root cause and resolve performance or reliability issues. WHAT YOU’LL NEED You have 5+ years of full‑stack engineering experience building production‑grade web applications, with a strong emphasis on scalable architecture and high availability. You are proficient in TypeScript, Node.js, and React, and have a track record of delivering feature‑rich, maintainable codebases. You possess deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL database concepts, including indexing, query optimization, and data modeling. You are comfortable working with WebSocket‑based communication and designing real‑time data pipelines. You have experience deploying microservices to Kubernetes clusters and managing service meshes, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks. You are a collaborative communicator, approachable, and thrive in a distributed team environment where you can influence product direction and drive technical excellence.
