Senior Software Developer, DevOps

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer, DevOps to join our team in a remote capacity. As a key member of our development organization, you will play a critical role in delivering value to our customers in a reliable, efficient, and safe manner. You will work in a focused team that owns one or more pieces of the production application environment and the developer experience, and will be responsible for delivering on quarterly goals. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Software Developer, DevOps, your primary responsibilities will include: - Designing and building software tools, libraries, automation, services, and glue scripts - Ensuring the reliability, security, and integrity of our large, cloud-based Linux infrastructure - Participating in a flexible on-call rotation - Leading by owning project milestones, epics, or features - Practicing continuous improvement, contributing to culture, process, and direction in your team and across our department - Developing processes and automation to eliminate repetitive tasks - Designing and building our infrastructure platform - Identifying and implementing new platform features - Researching and evaluating new technologies - Refactoring, rewriting, or retiring existing platform features - Operating our developer experience and production application environments - Diagnosing and repairing our distributed systems - Performing maintenance, upgrades, and migrations - Controlling or eliminating repetitive tasks, alert noise, and business-as-usual work - Enabling development teams by providing executable interfaces to our infrastructure platform and tools and best practices to support the entire software development lifecycle - Collaborating with others across the organization to solve problems and build better processes, systems, and software - Communicating through mentoring, writing documentation, participating in meetings, and sharing your work at demos WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will require: - A degree in Computer Science or Engineering, and at least 5 years of experience in an SRE, DevOps, or software engineering role with a track record of substantial contributions to software projects with high business impact - Experience with mentoring, coaching, and pairing with coworkers - Experience writing clean code that performs well at scale and an understanding of SaaS software development practice; ideally, you have experience working on a SaaS product - Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools to build and run cloud infrastructure - Experience with operating, building, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and a working knowledge of Linux systems administration, including troubleshooting system-level issues, networking (L3-L7), and basic monitoring - Collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work with others to deliver results and prioritize group needs over individual needs - Creativity and innovation, with the ability to seek new and better ways of doing things and generate original and imaginative ideas, products, and solutions - Problem-solving skills, with the ability to use an organized and logical approach to find solutions to complex problems and look beyond the obvious to understand the root cause of problems and propose several possible solutions - Resilience and tolerance for change and ambiguity, with the ability to effectively cope with change and find ways to advance work and projects WHY REMOTE As a remote employee, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere
