Site Reliability Engineer II

ABOUT THE ROLE Instacart is building a world‑class grocery delivery platform and needs a Site Reliability Engineer II to help keep it running smoothly. In this role you will monitor systems, respond to alerts, manage incidents, and automate operations to improve reliability and performance across our distributed services. You will work closely with senior engineers, contribute to deployment processes, and help maintain clear documentation for all reliability practices. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will participate in monitoring and alerting, escalating issues when necessary, and following incident management protocols to resolve problems quickly. You will support the deployment of applications and services, ensuring releases are reliable and efficient. Your work will include developing and maintaining automation scripts and tools, improving existing systems, and applying best practices in site reliability engineering. Collaboration with cross‑functional teams and clear communication of technical issues will be essential. WHAT YOU'LL NEED A minimum of two to four years of software engineering experience and a solid grasp of programming concepts and scripting languages. You should have a strong interest in system administration, troubleshooting, and analytical problem solving. Ownership of incident handling, teamwork, and effective communication are required. Eagerness to learn and grow in the SRE field is essential. Preferred experience includes working with Ruby or Go, familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and prior SRE experience.
