Senior Site Reliability Engineer, Workforce Identity

ABOUT THE ROLE We're seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our IT Operations Corporate Engineering team at Coinbase. As a key member of our team, you'll play a critical role in building and scaling our identity and access management (IAM) platform. This platform secures how every employee and system authenticates and accesses corporate resources, directly enabling Coinbase to manage identity across a fast-growing, globally distributed workforce. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you'll be responsible for owning the reliability and availability of corporate IAM systems, including on-call rotation, incident response, root cause analysis, and blameless retrospectives to ensure 24x7 uptime for critical identity services. You'll also be building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling to streamline identity platform deployments, eliminating manual operational tasks and progressively testing changes before production rollout. Additionally, you'll partner with IT, Security, and Engineering teams as a subject matter expert on corporate IAM and DevOps tooling, advising on identity lifecycle, provisioning, SSO, MFA, and access control architecture. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you'll need 5+ years of experience in site reliability engineering or infrastructure engineering, with hands-on ownership of identity and access management platforms (Okta, Duo, Auth0, EntraID, Ping, or similar). You'll also need demonstrated success building tooling that solves IAM-specific problems, including identity lifecycle and provisioning, SSO, MFA, and ABAC/RBAC at enterprise scale. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Go, Python, Ruby, Java, or C#) and experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Git-based workflows and IaC tools (Terraform or equivalent) are also required. WHY REMOTE Coinbase is a remote-first company, but not remote-only. You can expect to get together quarterly for intense in-person working sessions called “surges.” BENEFITS Coinbase offers a competitive annual base salary range of $186,065 - $218,900 USD, in addition to equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
