Gitlab
Senior Product Manager, Secret Detection and Vulnerability Research
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
GitLab is redefining DevSecOps by embedding security into every phase of software delivery. As a Senior Product Manager for Secret Detection and Vulnerability Research, you will drive the strategy and execution of the platform’s most critical security capabilities. Your work will protect millions of developers and Fortune 100 customers from credential leaks and supply‑chain attacks, ensuring that GitLab remains the trusted choice for secure, continuous delivery. You will own the full secret lifecycle and the research pipeline that powers detection rules, advisories, and malicious package intelligence, turning threat intelligence into a commercial product that delivers measurable value to our users.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will set the vision and roadmap for secret detection, from prevention and detection to validation, revocation, and reporting across GitLab.com, Dedicated, and Self‑Managed deployments. You will own the business outcomes for the Secret Detection and Vulnerability Research portfolio, including adoption, expansion, competitive win rate, and revenue contribution, and you will bring a product‑first perspective to packaging and pricing. You will treat detection content as a product, defining the sourcing, validation, versioning, and measurement of rules, advisories, and intelligence feeds, and you will hold the line on detection quality by driving precision and recall metrics. You will work closely with engineering, security research, threat intelligence, and field teams to translate research into actionable product features, and you will use AI to accelerate research, rule generation, triage, and remediation guidance. You will communicate asynchronously with clarity and precision, enabling distributed teams to act without meetings.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You have deep domain expertise in application security, vulnerability management, or security research, with hands‑on experience in scanners, detection content, or threat intelligence. You possess the technical credibility to collaborate with security engineering, understanding detection logic, data pipelines, and CI integration trade‑offs. Your commercial reasoning starts from revenue mechanics and buyer motion, guiding product decisions that drive adoption and profitability. You have a proven track record of using AI as a force multiplier to compress the distance between question and answer, and you can prototype flows, synthesize research, and deliver conclusions independently. You are a self‑starter who thrives in an outcome‑owning role, comfortable owning metrics, setting strategy, and driving cross‑functional execution.
WHY REMOTE
GitLab’s distributed culture is built on asynchronous collaboration, flexible schedules, and a focus on results rather than presence. Remote work empowers you to balance your personal and professional life while contributing to a global product that serves customers worldwide. Our teams operate across time zones, and we provide the tools and processes that enable seamless communication, knowledge sharing, and rapid decision‑making.
BENEFITS
Health, dental, and vision coverage; generous paid time off and parental leave; remote work stipend and equipment allowance; annual learning budget; equity and retirement plans; access to a global community of security experts and product leaders; and a culture that values continuous learning and innovation.
