ABOUT THE ROLE
We're on a mission to make money work for everyone at Monzo, a pioneering digital bank that's revolutionizing the way people manage their finances. As a Senior Legal Counsel, you'll play a key role in helping us build one of the best, most innovative banks in the world.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You'll work closely with our product collectives to build and deliver business banking and merchant payment products, providing first-rate legal advice and support to our Product Collective. You'll collaborate with senior lawyers, product managers, and engineers to develop and grow Monzo Bank in the UK, advising on legal matters relating to business banking and merchant payments. Your responsibilities will include:
- Partnering with product managers to advise on legal matters and commercial insights
- Supporting Monzo with operational and product changes needed to offer point of sale and online card payment acceptance to our business banking customers
- Developing efficient ways of working to enable Monzo to scale quickly, while ensuring safe and compliant operations
- Providing training and knowledge sharing with other colleagues on the impact of laws and regulations on Monzo or our customers
- Acting autonomously, taking ownership of matters, identifying legal issues proactively, evaluating relevant risks, and finding effective solutions to unique and complex business activities
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You'll be a technically excellent lawyer with a minimum of 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience working in the banking and finance sector. You'll have a strong background advising on commercial and regulatory matters, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality legal support.
