Senior Language Manager, German (8 month FTC)

ABOUT THE ROLE Klaviyo is seeking an experienced Senior Language Manager to own and optimize the language and localization strategy for Germany. This is an 8-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover) position, based in Dublin, Ireland, with a hybrid schedule requiring 3 days per week in-office. Job Summary: As a Senior Language Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring linguistic and cultural excellence across all customer touchpoints in Germany. This includes owning the linguistic and cultural quality of the product, website, marketing campaigns, customer education, and partner and developer portals. Your work will provide German customers with high-quality localization and an experience that feels locally relevant, fueling international growth for both our customers and Klaviyo. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will step directly into a fully embedded, senior individual contributor position and own everything the current person owns, with full continuity responsibility. Your key responsibilities will include: - Owning the German language infrastructure, including the style guide and glossary, to ensure consistent, high-quality content across the entire customer journey. - Ensuring German linguistic quality across all customer touchpoints, delivering the best German customer experience. - Championing the German customer experience, including optimizing search, product, website, and customer journey to identify gaps and opportunities. - Developing and maintaining linguistic and cultural standards and guidelines, defining quality expectations across the localized customer journey. - Reviewing German translation, monitoring linguistic quality, and providing feedback to translation teams. - Communicating proactively with cross-functional teams to anticipate, identify, and fix linguistic and localization issues related to Germany. - Facilitating collaboration between internal stakeholders and vendors, advising on the best course of action regarding localization processes. - Collaborating closely with the Localization team and internal stakeholders to collect relevant cultural and linguistic information about Klaviyo Germany and support the localization effort. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need: - 5+ years of experience in a comparable localization role on the buyer/client side - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Languages/Translation/Localization/International Studies - Fluency in English and native knowledge of German for Germany (essential) - Proven experience in translation, localization, and language quality management - Demonstrated experience in localization of product, marketing, and support content for Germany, with scalable localization infrastructures and language quality frameworks - Experience with Smartling or similar TMS platforms a plus - Deep understanding of localization specificities and pitfalls - Experience in creative writing a bonus - Authorization to work in Ireland without restriction WHY REMOTE As a hybrid employee, you will be based in Dublin, Ireland, with a flexible schedule requiring 3 days per week in-office. You will also need to occasionally travel to the London office for training, team events, and other purposes.
