ABOUT THE ROLE
We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our team at Fastly. As a key member of our Certification Authority, you will be responsible for building, upgrading, and maintaining production infrastructure across multiple datacenters and cloud environments. You will work closely with our team to ensure the security and reliability of our edge cloud platform, which enables customers to create great digital experiences quickly, securely, and reliably.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
- Building, upgrading, and maintaining production infrastructure across multiple datacenters and cloud environments, following change control procedures from staging through production.
- Developing and maintaining Go services within our ACME server, contributing patches upstream, and building internal automation tooling in Go, Python, and Bash.
- Owning cryptographic operations, including key ceremonies and HSM management, which demands precision and benefits from systematic execution.
- Triage security vulnerabilities against our infrastructure, determining applicability, and driving remediation on defined timelines.
- Operating and improving monitoring and alerting systems, participating in on-call rotation, and performing structured root cause analysis for production incidents.
- Preparing and presenting technical evidence for annual WebTrust audits, demonstrating to external auditors how your systems satisfy compliance controls.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong background operating and automating Linux infrastructure, with experience managing the full lifecycle of production systems.
- Software development capability in Go, Python, or a comparable systems language, including the ability to read unfamiliar codebases, debug production issues, and build tools to solve operational problems.
- Experience with container orchestration (Docker Compose or Kubernetes) in production, including multi-environment promotion workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to work within structured change management, documenting changes before executing, testing in staging, and following defined procedures.
- Clear technical writing skills, including design documents, runbooks, audit evidence, and incident reports that communicate precisely to both engineering peers and non-technical reviewers.
