Senior Director, Creative

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Director, Creative to lead and scale our design function as a conceptual, strategic, and operational pillar of the Creative and Brand organization at Braze. This role is responsible for visual excellence, building, developing, and maintaining a high-performing design team grounded in strong conceptual thinking. Success in this role depends on the ability to set a clear creative bar, move decisively when standards aren’t met, and actively mentor emerging leaders. WHAT YOU'LL DO As Senior Director, Creative, you will lead a high-performing design team spanning brand, motion, and multi-disciplinary creative. Key responsibilities include: - Leading and scaling a high-performing design team - Building teams intentionally, prioritizing conceptual thinking, taste, and strategic fluency - Establishing and upholding a clear, non-negotiable quality bar for design, craft, and thinking - Mentoring and developing junior leaders to take on delegated ownership, responsibilities, and team leadership - Creating clear growth paths, expectations, and feedback mechanisms for all levels of the team - Designing and implementing repeatable design systems, workflows, and processes - Partnering with Creative Ops and Marketing Ops to ensure design processes scale with organizational growth - Balancing craft excellence with operational rigor - Translating insights, positioning, and brand frameworks into compelling, scalable visual systems - Pressure-testing strategy through a design lens - Ensuring design work ladders back to brand and business objectives - Championing conceptual thinking across the design team WHAT YOU'LL NEED - Proven experience in leading and scaling design teams - Strong conceptual thinking, taste, and strategic fluency - Ability to set a clear creative bar and move decisively when standards aren’t met - Experience in mentoring and developing junior leaders - Strong understanding of design systems, workflows, and processes - Ability to balance craft excellence with operational rigor - Excellent communication and collaboration skills WHY REMOTE Braze is a remote-first company, and this role will be fully remote.
