Senior Data Protection Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for a Senior Data Protection Manager to join our Global DPO Office at Monzo, a leading digital banking platform. As a Senior Manager, you'll play a key role in providing practical, proportionate data protection advice, oversight, and challenge across the bank. You'll work closely with the Data Protection Officer and other teams to support Monzo's growth into new countries, products, and innovative technologies. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Data Protection Manager, you'll be responsible for leading important work across the DPO Office and the wider bank. Your key responsibilities will include: - Providing practical, proportionate data protection advice, oversight, and challenge across the bank - Reviewing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), providing DPO opinions, assessing data breaches, and supporting clear, well-documented decisions on regulatory reporting - Supporting our relationship with regulators, improving the processes behind regulatory engagement and complaints, and providing oversight of data subject rights and contact point processes - Leading projects within the Global DPO Office at pace, and representing the team in projects led by others where data protection compliance is affected - Owning specific goals and workstreams within the DPO Office maturity plan, working with the DPO and wider team to build practical, scalable, and efficient processes, governance, and ways of working - Proactively finding opportunities to improve how we work, including through better use of data, automation, AI, and other tools that help us move faster without lowering standards - Deputising for the DPO from time to time, giving you the opportunity to build experience across DPO-level responsibilities WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you'll need: - Practical, experienced data protection knowledge, with strong understanding of UK GDPR, PECR, and ICO expectations - Relevant qualification such as an IAPP qualification or equivalent - Curiosity about AI and innovative technology, with experience of using or exploring how to use AI practically in your work - Self-starting attitude, with ability to solve complex and ambiguous problems, work methodically, find clear and proportionate solutions, and deliver tangible improvements - Hands-on experience across core DPO work, including DPIAs, data breaches, privacy notices, governance, reporting, and regulator-facing activity - Understanding of what good second-line oversight looks like, with ability to build trusted relationships while still providing effective advice, oversight, and challenge - Thoughtful communication skills, with ability to work with teams across the company, share knowledge, influence well, and work through problems early, with solutions in mind WHY REMOTE As a remote worker, you'll have the flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK, while still being part of a dynamic and growing team.
