Senior Data Platform Engineer - OLAP

ABOUT THE ROLE The Senior Data Platform Engineer - OLAP at Adyen is a key member of our Data Engineering team, responsible for building and maintaining the foundational layer of tooling and processes for our on-premise Big Data Platforms. This role sits at the intersection of Data Engineering, Backend Engineering, and Systems Engineering, and requires a strong understanding of distributed systems, data quality, and discoverability. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Data Platform Engineer - OLAP, you will balance building innovative new tools from scratch with relentlessly improving our existing infrastructure. Your focus areas will include: - Scaling and optimizing our real-time analytical powerhouses (Druid, FastAPI, Java, Kafka) - Designing and building data contracts, validation frameworks, optimization tooling, and robust Kafka ingestion pipelines - Developing and maintaining high-performance, distributed big data platforms - Working deeply with various flavors of databases, filesystems, and compute engines - Building tools that enhance metadata collection, data lineage, and platform-wide data quality - Optimizing continuous release/deployment environments within a large-scale private cloud system - Developing stream processing applications and frameworks to reduce time-to-insight for analysts and data scientists WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need: - 6+ years of experience with object-oriented programming, preferably in Python or Java - Strong communication skills and the ability to build bridges between teams - Proven experience developing and maintaining distributed compute/data systems (e.g., Spark, Trino, Druid, ClickHouse) - Experience with real-time and batch pipelines (Kafka, Spark Streaming) with a focus on user-friendliness and reliability - Knowledge of DevOps pipelines and data modeling tooling WHY REMOTE Unfortunately, this role is based out of our Amsterdam office and requires in-person collaboration.
