Senior Competitive Benchmarking Engineer - Product Marketing

ABOUT THE ROLE Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Competitive Benchmarking Engineer to measure, validate, and communicate performance metrics on Elastic vs competitive products. This role will position Elastic's offerings effectively against competitors, ensuring the organization remains competitive in a dynamic market. The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of technical, business, and communication ability, and thrives in ambiguity, thinks critically, and can dive deep to deliver valuable insights. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Competitive Benchmarking Engineer, you will define benchmark methodologies and guidelines, optimize each product to ensure equal testing conditions, run the benchmarks and analyze the results, work with engineering and developer relations to validate your approach and results, and publish the results through technical blogs or white papers with the information and resources for others to recreate your tests. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need 5+ years of software development experience with Python and Java, plus Linux shell scripting. You should have a strong understanding of distributed systems performance analysis, including CPU, memory, disk I/O, network, latency, and throughput. Experience performing root cause analysis for performance issues in complex systems, familiarity with benchmarking in Linux VM and containerized environments, and experience writing about benchmarking results for external audiences are also required. Additionally, you should be able to manage numerous projects and collaborate effectively across geographically distributed teams. BENEFITS Elastic offers a competitive salary range of $113,100 - $178,900 USD, with the possibility of up to $215,100 USD in select locations.
