Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE Twilio is a global leader in cloud communications, enabling businesses and developers to build and scale messaging, voice, video, and authentication experiences. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of our rapidly expanding organization. You will partner with cross‑functional teams across finance, product, and engineering to provide accurate, timely financial reporting, support strategic decision‑making, and help drive continuous improvement in our accounting processes. This position is fully remote, giving you the flexibility to work from anywhere while staying connected to a dynamic, high‑growth environment. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Lead month‑end and year‑end close activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements. - Prepare and analyze financial statements, variance reports, and management commentary for senior leadership. - Oversee the reconciliation of bank, credit card, and vendor accounts, and resolve any discrepancies. - Manage the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems, including upgrades to ERP and cloud‑based finance platforms. - Mentor and coach junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. - Collaborate with tax, audit, and legal teams to support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting. WHAT YOU'LL NEED - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred. - Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role. - Deep knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and SOX compliance, with a proven track record of managing complex financial close cycles. - Proficiency in accounting software such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems, and strong Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, VLOOKUP). - Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for non‑financial stakeholders. - Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, remote, and distributed work environment, managing priorities and deadlines independently.
