Regulatory Counsel

ABOUT THE ROLE Adyen is a financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products to customers such as Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. As a Regulatory Counsel, you will play a key role in enabling Adyen to create unique business opportunities while making ethical choices. This position requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as pragmatic and strategic thinking to advise internal and external stakeholders on regulatory matters. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Regulatory Counsel, you will be responsible for monitoring regulatory developments in the legislative and policy environment, advising on their impact to Adyen, and operationalising regulatory requirements in Australia and New Zealand. You will also represent the team on various workstreams, drive the regulatory strategy, and collaborate with internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters. Additionally, you will manage routine and ad hoc regulatory requests and filings for both Australia and New Zealand, and advise on various matters with merchants, service providers, internal and external stakeholders. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you must be qualified as a lawyer in Australia, have strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to conduct analysis of policy issues. You should have at least 5+ years of experience in a regulatory or legal role, with some working knowledge of the payment industry, retail banking, acquiring, and finance. You should also be a critical thinker, strategic, and have innovative problem-solving skills, with a strong sense of initiative, independence, and ability to take ownership. WHY REMOTE Unfortunately, this role is not a remote-only position, as Adyen is an office-first company that values in-person collaboration. However, the role is based out of the Sydney office, and you will be expected to work collaboratively with the team in person.
