Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE Swissport is a global leader in aviation services, delivering ground handling, cargo handling, and passenger services to more than 300 million passengers each year. As a Ramp Attendant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and customer experience of every flight that passes through our airports. You will operate in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment, working closely with pilots, ground crew, and airport authorities to marshal aircraft, manage cargo, and support passengers with care and professionalism. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will marshal aircraft during arrival and departure, ensuring all safety protocols are followed and that the aircraft is positioned correctly for boarding and de‑boarding. You will conduct coning and chocking, inspect ramp areas for debris and FOD, and maintain a clean, hazard‑free environment around gates and aircraft. You will operate ramp vehicles and ground service equipment, deliver water and lavatory services, and handle mail, live animals, wheelchairs, and child strollers with precision and empathy. Your responsibilities will also include unloading, loading, and palletizing cargo, managing special handling requirements for fragile or heavy items, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant with state, airport, and Swissport regulations. You will provide critical assistance to passengers, including physically transporting them throughout the airport, and will support crew and passengers during boarding and de‑boarding operations. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You must hold a valid driver’s licence and be willing to work in all weather conditions, across a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. You should possess strong numerical skills, able to perform basic arithmetic in various units of measure, and be comfortable reading, writing, and interpreting safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals. A proven ability to work safely under pressure, maintain high standards of customer service, and collaborate effectively with a diverse team is essential.
