Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Public Policy Manager, State and Local, you will play a key role in shaping Lyft's policy priorities and advocating for the company's interests at the state and local level. This position will be responsible for leading Lyft's policy efforts in seven states, including Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, and Oklahoma. You will work closely with elected officials, policymakers, and key stakeholders to advance Lyft's goals and develop strategic relationships with external stakeholders and third-party organizations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Public Policy Manager, State and Local, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Partnering with policymakers from across the political spectrum to advance Lyft's interests
- Developing and executing Lyft's legislative, regulatory, and political strategy in the Mid-South and Southwest U.S.
- Representing Lyft in all interactions with elected officials, government officials, staff, and community stakeholders
- Tracking legislation relevant to Lyft at state, county, and municipal levels
- Working cross-functionally with Lyft senior management to develop public policy priorities
- Collaborating with Lyft's Legal, Compliance, Communications, and Marketplace teams to develop market strategy
- Tracking and responding to government inquiries and requests on policy issues
- Informing company stakeholders and lines of business on legislative and regulatory developments
- Managing external consultants to assist with key Lyft policy priorities
- Managing strategic relationships with external stakeholders and third-party organizations based in the relevant states
- Drafting comments, talking points, and memos for senior Lyft executives
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 5+ years of experience in political, government, and/or government relations
- Experience directly lobbying government officials on complex issues
- Strong strategic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment
- Proven self-starter with experience leading and winning on complex policy issues
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
- Attention to detail
- Deep relationships with state and local policymakers and community organizations
- Lyft user and believer
WHY REMOTE
This role will be based in Nashville, TN, and will require working in the office on a hybrid schedule, with three days per week spent in the office. However, the company offers flexibility to work from anywhere for up to four weeks per year.

The expected base pay range for this position is $96,760 - $120,950, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus, or benefits.
