Product Counsel

ABOUT THE ROLE We're seeking a Product Counsel to join our team at Instacart, a company transforming the grocery industry by providing access to the food people love and more time to enjoy it together. As a Product Counsel, you'll play a critical role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes and ensuring the company's growth initiatives are executed with confidence. WHAT YOU'LL DO In this role, you'll serve as a strategic legal partner to product teams, providing clear, concise legal advice and driving results cross-functionally. Your responsibilities will include: - Providing jurisdiction-specific risk assessments and scalable compliance frameworks for product launches in new international markets - Synthesizing legal requirements into actionable guidance for product, engineering, and design teams - Identifying leverage points and introducing AI-assisted workflows to improve cross-functional legal processes - Mapping and proactively managing Instacart's exposure across consumer protection, payments, privacy, and commercial compliance - Building strong relationships with business partners across the company, positioning Legal as an enabler rather than a gatekeeper WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you'll need: - A J.D. from a top-tier law school with active bar membership in at least one U.S. state - 5+ years of legal experience at a leading law firm or in-house legal department - Familiarity with legal issues in Internet and e-commerce spaces, including copyright, privacy, advertising, payments, and SaaS - Ability to provide clear, concise legal advice and drive results cross-functionally - Proven ability to manage competing priorities across multiple teams in a fast-paced environment - Comfort working with AI tools to drive efficiency and streamline legal processes WHY REMOTE Instacart is a Flex First team, offering the flexibility to choose where you do your best work – whether that's from home, an office, or your favorite coffee shop. BENEFITS Instacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits, including a base pay range of $185,000 - $195,000 CAD for Canadian-based candidates. This role is also eligible for a new hire equity grant as well as annual refresh grants.
