ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking an exceptional People Legal Counsel to join our team at Anthropic. As a senior member of our People team, you will partner with business and technical stakeholders to build and manage employment programs that enable high performers to achieve their best work. This role requires a deep understanding of employment law, as well as the ability to develop scalable frameworks and processes, and collaborate effectively across technical and business teams in a fast-paced environment. WHAT YOU'LL DO As our People Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for: - Partnering with Legal, People, and Finance teams on global M&A deals - Advising the People team and managers on a wide range of legal matters, including compensation, benefits, performance management, leaves of absence, and co-employment issues - Implementing and managing compliant employment programs to create a culture of high performance, and alignment to Anthropic's culture, values, and People philosophy - Crafting clear and comprehensive written guidance, policies, playbooks, and communications that effectively translate complex international employment law concepts into actionable frameworks for technical and business stakeholders - Proactively identifying and mitigating employment legal risks - Amplifying the team by coaching and mentoring key partners, managers, and cross-functional stakeholders, building employment law fluency across the organization - Supporting on demands, charges, and litigation; liaising and managing relationships with outside counsel - Staying current on relevant employment laws, regulations, and industry trends, and proactively disseminating implications to key stakeholders WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need: - A JD from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (California, New York, or Washington preferred) - Demonstrated team-level ownership, with experience independently owning a practice area or major workstream and building systems and frameworks others rely on - Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to define strategy and translate complex legal issues into actionable guidance for non-lawyers and executives alike - Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to drive complex multi-stakeholder workstreams with minimal oversight - A track record of building employment legal programs or playbooks that scaled with company growth WHY REMOTE As a remote employee, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere, while still being part of a dynamic and growing team.
