ABOUT THE ROLE Canopie is a digital maternal health company dedicated to supporting pregnant and postpartum individuals through structured, evidence-based support, education, and care navigation. Maternal Health Peer Specialists play a critical role in the care continuum by offering empathetic, experience-informed support, helping members feel seen, understood, and empowered to make decisions that align with their own values, needs, and circumstances. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Maternal Health Peer Specialist, you will provide virtual peer support to members across pregnancy and postpartum, grounded in your lived experience. Your responsibilities will include: - Offering empathetic listening, validation, and encouragement through key perinatal transitions - Sharing personal insights when appropriate to normalize experiences and reduce isolation - Conducting outreach and engagement using structured workflows and communication tools - Supporting members in navigating common challenges (emotional wellbeing, identity shifts, recovery, feeding, sleep, returning to work) - Encouraging connection to Canopie services (coaching, classes, clinical care) based on member needs - Recognizing when additional or clinical support may be needed and following defined escalation pathways - Documenting interactions clearly and consistently within Canopie's platform - Communicating with members via phone, video, and secure messaging - Participating in training, supervision, and peer support development WHAT YOU'LL NEED To thrive in this role, you will need: - Lived experience with pregnancy and/or the postpartum period within the last 3-5 years - Ability to thoughtfully reflect on and use personal experience to support others in a balanced, appropriate way - Some experience in maternal health, peer support, community-based work, or caregiving roles - Comfortable providing virtual support and building connection in a digital environment - Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a warm, non-judgmental approach - Ability to follow structured workflows while maintaining authenticity in interactions - Strong digital literacy (video platforms, messaging tools, documentation systems) - Reliable, organized, and responsive in a remote setting WHY REMOTE As a remote contractor, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere and enjoy a fully digital-first care model.
