ABOUT THE ROLE NT Health is seeking a dedicated Orderly to support the Alice Springs Hospital team. The Orderly will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth movement of patients, medical equipment, and essential supplies across the hospital, directly contributing to the delivery of high‑quality patient care. This position is integral to maintaining the operational flow of the hospital, enabling clinical staff to focus on patient treatment while you manage logistics and support services. You will work closely with nursing, medical, and administrative teams, ensuring that all movements are timely, safe, and compliant with hospital protocols. The role requires a proactive approach to problem‑solving and a strong commitment to patient safety and confidentiality. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will coordinate the transport of patients, medical equipment, and supplies between wards, operating theatres, and diagnostic areas, ensuring all movements are safe and efficient. You will assist in the setup and breakdown of equipment for procedures, ensuring readiness for clinical teams. You will monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of transport routes and equipment, reporting any issues to the relevant departments. You will collaborate with nursing and clinical staff to prioritize patient transport needs, responding swiftly to emergencies. You will maintain accurate logs of patient movements and equipment usage, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. You will support the orderly team in training new staff and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You have a minimum of three years of experience in a hospital or clinical support environment, with a strong understanding of patient transport protocols and safety standards. You possess excellent physical stamina and the ability to lift and move patients and equipment safely. You demonstrate strong communication skills, able to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and provide clear updates to supervisors. You are detail‑oriented, maintaining accurate records and adhering to infection control and privacy guidelines. You are adaptable, able to handle unpredictable schedules and urgent requests with composure. You hold a valid driver’s licence and a current first aid certificate, and you are comfortable using basic hospital information systems.
