Machine Learning Platform Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE The Machine Learning Platform Engineer at Monzo plays a crucial role in building and maintaining the systems that enable teams across the company to train, evaluate, deploy, and serve machine learning models and AI features safely and reliably. This is a platform engineering position in the ML and AI space, requiring a strong software engineering foundation combined with ML or AI context. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Machine Learning Platform Engineer, you will work on building backend services, Python libraries, model lifecycle tooling, evaluation workflows, and low-latency serving systems. You will be responsible for designing and operating distributed systems that handle scale, concurrency, and failure. You will also think like a platform engineer, focused on developer experience and removing friction for internal teams. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need to combine solid backend engineering with real ML or AI platform experience. You should have experience with strongly typed languages, writing and working on backend software. You should also be comfortable working across both Go and Python, and be curious about how systems behave in production, including reliability, latency, quality, safety, and operational risk. BENEFITS This role comes with a salary of £85,000-£110,000, plus incentive awards tied to your performance.
