Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE As a Legal Ops Associate, OC Management, you will play a key role in driving operational excellence across Coinbase's outside counsel spend and management program. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with experience in managing outside counsel, financial processes, and legal e-billing systems. You will partner closely with the Senior Manager, Outside Counsel Spend & Strategy to optimize how Coinbase engages, evaluates, and pays outside counsel, directly impacting cost efficiency and program effectiveness. WHAT YOU'LL DO In this role, you will be responsible for building and enhancing automated processes for legal e-billing and outside counsel management. This includes driving implementation of the OC spend strategy, reviewing and benchmarking law firm billing rates, and owning the monthly accruals process and legal vendor onboarding workflows. You will also administer and maintain the legal e-billing system (Brightflag), analyze OC spend data to produce reports and actionable insights, and partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Sourcing, and EAA to enhance program effectiveness. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of outside counsel management experience at an in-house legal practice, preferably at a high-growth technology company. You should have demonstrated experience managing legal accruals, forecasting inputs, and month-end financial processes in partnership with FP&A. Additionally, you should have hands-on experience with legal e-billing platforms (Brightflag or comparable) and proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, including formulas, data manipulation, reconciliation, and building trackers and analyses. WHY REMOTE Coinbase is a remote-first company, but not remote-only. As a Legal Ops Associate, OC Management, you will work remotely and occasionally participate in in-person working sessions called "surges" on a quarterly basis. BENEFITS The base salary for this role ranges from $99,365 to $116,900 USD per year, and total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
