Complex Co.
Lead Estimator
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Complex Co has built a reputation for delivering award‑winning construction projects for over six decades. As a global leader in civil and infrastructure development, we are committed to enhancing communities through quality execution and innovative design. The Lead Estimator will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial foundation of our projects, ensuring that every tender is accurate, competitive, and aligned with our strategic goals. This position combines hands‑on estimating with mentorship, process improvement, and close collaboration with project leadership to drive successful outcomes across the organisation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and scopes of work for civil construction tenders, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client expectations. Reviewing tender documentation—including drawings, specifications, RFTs, and contracts—you will identify scope, risks, and opportunities that influence pricing decisions. You will conduct or coordinate site inspections to assess conditions and capture construction risks, integrating findings into your cost build‑ups. Using Benchmark, Bluebeam Revu, and advanced Excel techniques, you will perform quantity take‑offs and reconcile subcontractor pricing, producing transparent cost breakdowns for internal and client review. Your analytical skills will be applied to historical project data, driving continuous improvement in pricing accuracy and methodology. You will promote consistent estimating practices across the team, mentor junior and mid‑level estimators, and maintain productive relationships with key subcontractors and suppliers. Finally, you will manage multiple tenders simultaneously, meeting strict deadlines while coordinating with project managers, procurement, and finance to ensure cohesive delivery.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
A minimum of five years of experience in commercial construction or civil infrastructure estimating, with a proven track record of leading complex tenders. You possess a deep understanding of civil, building, and construction methodologies, contract review, risk identification, and cost planning strategies. Proficiency in Benchmark, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Project (intermediate level) is required, along with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. You are adept at managing competing priorities, communicating complex information clearly, and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors. Your interpersonal skills enable you to mentor team members and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams. A proactive mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement will help you thrive in this dynamic role.
WHY REMOTE
Complex Co embraces a distributed, asynchronous culture that empowers teams to work from anywhere while maintaining high performance. Remote employees enjoy flexible schedules that support work‑life balance, allowing you to structure your day around peak productivity and personal commitments. Our virtual collaboration tools and regular virtual huddles ensure seamless communication across time zones, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose. By working remotely, you benefit from a supportive environment that values results over location, enabling you to contribute to high‑impact projects from the comfort of your own workspace.
BENEFITS
Competitive health and dental coverage for you and your dependents, comprehensive life and disability insurance, and a generous paid time off policy that includes holidays, personal days, and sick leave. We provide a remote work stipend to help offset home‑office costs, a learning budget for professional development and certifications, and access to a company‑wide wellness program. In addition, you will receive a performance‑based bonus structure tied to project success and company growth, ensuring that your contributions are recognised and rewarded.
