ABOUT THE ROLE The Infantry Soldier is a core member of the Canadian Army’s Combat Arms team, responsible for engaging and defeating enemy forces in any environment. Infantry Soldiers operate worldwide, from Arctic tundra to deserts, and perform a wide range of combat and support tasks. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will expertly operate and maintain rifles, hand‑grenades, machine‑guns, anti‑tank weapons, and other armaments. You will use advanced field communications, navigation, and night‑vision equipment, and inspect and maintain weapon systems, vehicles, and personal protective gear. Your duties include airborne operations, coordination with air, tactical, and artillery support, unarmed combat, and the application of camouflage, patrol, assault, defense, and escape‑and‑evasion tactics. You will also participate in training and operational missions, both domestically and overseas. WHAT YOU'LL NEED No prior work experience or specific career skills are required. Applicants must have completed Grade 10 or Secondary 4 (Quebec) and may have foreign education accepted. Physical fitness to meet Canadian Armed Forces standards is essential, as training is physically demanding. Candidates will undergo Basic Military Qualification followed by a 17‑week advanced training program covering weapons, fieldcraft, construction of defenses, navigation, patrolling, and infantry tactics. Opportunities exist to develop specialized skills such as parachuting, mountain warfare, first aid instruction, and urban operations. Advanced courses are available for leadership and technical roles. WHY REMOTE This position offers flexibility through the Primary Reserve Force, allowing part‑time service while attending school or working a civilian job. Reserve members typically serve at a local unit and are not required to relocate, though they may volunteer for deployment. Regular Force members may be posted to various bases across Canada and worldwide, with potential for relocation during their career.
