Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to join our Talent Management team as the Head of Talent Management Programs and PMO. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for architecting, running, and continuously improving our most critical talent systems. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our company's growth and success. WHAT YOU'LL DO As the Head of Talent Management Programs and PMO, you will be responsible for designing and implementing end-to-end talent cycles, including performance management, 360-degree feedback, and promotion frameworks. You will also be responsible for architecting standardized competency models and career ladders, as well as designing and facilitating the talent review process to identify high-potential leaders and build a data-backed succession pipeline. Additionally, you will partner with cross-functional partners to ensure talent programs provide managers with the tools and insights needed to lead high-performing teams. You will also own the Total Rewards integrated roadmap, maintaining centralized visibility into project health, dependencies, and resource allocation to ensure on-time delivery. You will establish and iterate on a "lean" project management methodology that prioritizes speed and impact over administrative overhead, and act as the primary connector between Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, and Business Leadership to ensure talent initiatives are integrated and cohesive. Furthermore, you will develop an enterprise performance framework using key metrics to measure the ROI of our people programs, and leverage data to conduct root-cause analysis on organizational trends, providing executive leadership with actionable insights to inform policy and resource decisions. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need to have 8+ years of experience in Talent Management, People Operations, and portfolio/program management, including senior-level ownership of company-wide talent programs in fast-paced, product-led or high-growth environments. You will also need to have comfort and curiosity with AI tools as applied to talent program design, analytics, and portfolio management, with a clear sense of where automation accelerates the work and where human judgment remains irreplaceable. You will need to have a proven track record building or leading a PMO, with clear outcomes shipping complex, multi-stakeholder programs on time. You will also need to have depth in modern talent practices, including performance systems, org design, competency/career frameworks, succession planning, and manager effectiveness. Expert operational rigor with program/project management frameworks and process improvement is also required. WHY REMOTE At Duolingo, we value flexibility and autonomy, and we are committed to creating a remote work environment that allows our team members to thrive. As a remote employee, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere, at any time, as long as you have a stable internet connection and a quiet workspace. BENEFITS Duolingo offers a competitive salary, as well as a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, parental leave, and education stipend. We also offer flexible schedule, equipment stipend, and life insurance.
