Head of Global Policy

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a Head of Global Policy to support our engagements with Congress, Government Agencies, Industry Trade Associations, and more. As Scale continues to grow its Government Relations function, this role will play a critical part in accelerating the development of AI. WHAT YOU'LL DO As Head of Global Policy, you will own Scale's global policy strategy across all issue areas, including AI governance, federal procurement, international AI safety frameworks, and more. You will lead and grow a team of policy professionals, setting priorities and managing execution across a complex portfolio. Additionally, you will translate business objectives into policy outcomes, serve as Scale's senior voice at trade associations, standards bodies, and industry coalitions, brief and advise Scale's executive leadership on regulatory and legislative developments affecting the business, and lead Scale's response to Rulemakings, Requests for Comments, and regulatory proceedings across jurisdictions. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will have a history of successfully driving policy and regulatory outcomes, with the ability to connect business objectives to policy wins. Ideally, you will have 8+ years of experience in policy or working in the government, experience successfully securing consensus for priorities at trade associations, standards bodies, and experience leading company response to Rulemakings, Request for Comments, etc. You will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, previous technical experience such as publishing research/peer reviewed paper, covering technology policy as an issue area within the government, working at a technical government agency within the executive branch, or experience in the technology sector, and a history of managing multiple work streams simultaneously. BENEFITS Scale offers a comprehensive compensation package, including base salary, equity, and benefits. The base salary range for this full-time position is $177,600 - $272,000 USD, depending on location. Benefits include comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, retirement benefits, a learning and development stipend, and generous PTO. Additionally, this role may be eligible for a commuter stipend.
