ABOUT THE ROLE CMA CGM is a global leader in transportation and logistics, and we are expanding our footprint in the Caribbean. The General Manager for Suriname will be the chief executive of our local operations, responsible for translating the company’s global strategy into tangible results on the ground. This role requires a visionary leader who can navigate a complex regulatory environment, build strong relationships with local stakeholders, and drive sustainable growth in a dynamic market. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will develop and execute a comprehensive business strategy that aligns with CMA CGM’s global objectives while addressing the unique opportunities and challenges of the Surinamese market. You will oversee daily operations across sales, logistics, customer service, finance, and human resources, ensuring seamless coordination and high performance. You will cultivate a positive, inclusive culture that encourages employee engagement, professional development, and operational excellence. You will engage with clients, partners, and regulatory bodies to secure new business, strengthen partnerships, and maintain compliance with local laws. You will monitor industry trends, assess market conditions, and proactively identify growth opportunities and risk mitigation strategies, reporting progress and insights to senior management. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You will bring at least ten years of senior management experience in shipping, transport, or logistics, with a proven record of scaling operations and achieving revenue targets. You will hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Logistics, or a related field, and an MBA is highly desirable. You will demonstrate strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving skills, coupled with a high level of integrity and professionalism. You will be fluent in Dutch and English, possess excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and have a deep understanding of Suriname’s market, regulatory landscape, and business environment. You will be adept at financial management, budgeting, and building high‑performing teams in a fast‑paced, evolving setting.
