As a Gardener on the NUSC team in Albufeira, you will play a pivotal role in creating the tranquil, lush environments that welcome our guests. Your work will shape the first impression of our property, ensuring that every garden, fountain, and landscaped feature reflects the brand’s signature elegance and attention to detail. You will collaborate closely with the groundskeeping crew, maintenance staff, and front‑of‑house teams to maintain impeccable grounds that enhance the guest experience and support the hotel’s sustainability goals. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will supervise the daily upkeep of all outdoor areas, including the maintenance of fountains, planters, and decorative features, ensuring they remain clean, functional, and visually appealing. You will plant, transplant, and prune a variety of flowers, bulbs, grasses, trees, and shrubs, applying horticultural best practices to promote healthy growth. You will manage irrigation systems, troubleshoot issues, and adjust watering schedules to optimize water use. You will operate and maintain a range of equipment such as tractors, wheelbarrows, and lawn mowers, performing routine cleaning and fueling after each use. You will coordinate waste removal, ensuring all outdoor bins are emptied and disposed of responsibly. You will uphold safety protocols, report hazards, and complete required training and certifications. You will maintain a professional appearance and uniform, support your colleagues with respect and teamwork, and contribute to the overall quality standards of the hotel. WHAT YOU'LL NEED A high‑school diploma or equivalent GED and at least one year of experience in groundskeeping or a related field. A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record are required. You must be physically fit, able to lift up to 50 pounds, and comfortable working outdoors in varied weather conditions. Proficiency in basic horticulture, irrigation, and equipment operation is essential. Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are critical. Excellent communication skills in English are required; knowledge of Portuguese is a plus. You should be reliable, punctual, and committed to upholding W Hotels’ standards of service and safety.
