Field Technician III
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Cable Bahamas Ltd. is expanding its network infrastructure to support growing demand for high‑speed broadband and digital services across the Caribbean. As a Field Technician III you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing our Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) and fibre optic networks. Your expertise will ensure reliable service delivery, high picture quality, and rapid fault resolution for both residential and commercial customers. You will collaborate closely with Network Operations Center staff, design teams, and external contractors to execute complex field projects and uphold our service‑level commitments.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Diagnose and repair HFC node, distribution amplifier, and passive device issues to meet SNR and reliability KPIs.
- Perform RF alignment, node activation, and power‑supply troubleshooting for both new builds and existing infrastructure.
- Execute outside‑plant construction, including aerial and underground chamber installation, and support fibre‑to‑home deployments.
- Conduct quality‑control tests, maintain accurate as‑built drawings, and coordinate with utility companies for pole relocations.
- Lead on‑call rotations, respond to outages, and communicate status updates to NOC and senior management.
- Manage vendor relationships, submit purchase orders, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Minimum five years of hands‑on experience in cable or fibre network operations, with proven knowledge of HFC and fibre topologies.
- Associate degree or certification in construction, HFC, or fibre technology; NCTI or equivalent accreditation is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, network testing tools, and field‑management software.
- Strong analytical skills, the ability to troubleshoot complex RF and optical problems, and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer‑service skills, with a track record of working independently in diverse environments.
- Valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle, and physical capability to perform pole work, lift up to 75 pounds, and work in all weather conditions.
