ABOUT THE ROLE s1jobs is a leading recruitment partner for the construction industry, and we are expanding our own in‑house Estimation team. The Estimator will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate cost plans for a portfolio of high‑profile refurbishment projects ranging from £0.5 million to £5 million. Working closely with senior management and project teams, you will help shape the commercial success of each project while supporting the company’s rapid growth. The position is fully remote, allowing you to contribute from anywhere while collaborating with a distributed, high‑performing team. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Develop detailed cost estimates and cost plans for new and existing projects, ensuring alignment with project scopes and budgets. - Conduct quantity take‑offs, value engineering analyses, and risk assessments to identify cost‑saving opportunities and mitigate financial risk. - Prepare and review tender documents, subcontractor quotations, and change order proposals, maintaining rigorous accuracy and compliance. - Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to refine project specifications and resolve cost‑related queries. - Monitor project spend against estimates, producing variance reports and recommending corrective actions to keep projects on budget. - Maintain and update estimation databases, templates, and best‑practice guidelines to support continuous improvement across the team. WHAT YOU'LL NEED - Minimum of 3 years experience as a Contracting Estimator in the construction sector, with a proven track record on projects up to £5 million. - Proficiency with estimation software such as CostX, WinEst, or equivalent, and strong Excel skills for advanced modelling. - Deep understanding of Scottish construction costs, regulations, and procurement practices. - Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to risk management. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex cost data to senior stakeholders. - Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast‑paced, remote environment.
