Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE McNab is one of Australia’s largest construction, development and property groups, yet we retain a small‑company culture that prioritises genuine care for our staff, customers and stakeholders. As our Brisbane team expands, we are looking for an Estimator who will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial success of our projects. You will work closely with project managers, design teams and subcontractors to deliver accurate, competitive cost plans and tender submissions that reflect McNab’s commitment to quality and customer pride. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Prepare detailed cost plans, tender documents and pricing proposals for multi‑residential, retail and industrial projects. - Analyse drawings, specifications and project requirements to identify risks, gaps and commercial opportunities. - Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to gather information, refine estimates and ensure alignment with project goals. - Develop subcontractor packages and bills of quantities, liaising with suppliers to secure up‑to‑date pricing. - Maintain current market rates and pricing databases, ensuring our bids remain competitive and profitable. - Support the preparation of bids for repeat work, early construction initiatives and hard dollar tenders, using estimating software such as CostX to deliver precise measurements. WHAT YOU'LL NEED - Proven estimating experience in multi‑residential, retail or industrial construction, with a track record of delivering accurate cost plans and tenders. - Strong commercial awareness and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to spot value‑engineering opportunities. - Proficiency in CostX or equivalent estimating tools, and a solid understanding of quantity surveying principles. - Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, enabling effective collaboration across trades and markets. - Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team, managing deadlines and priorities in a fast‑paced environment. - A background in quantity surveying or a related discipline is highly desirable. WHY REMOTE McNab embraces a distributed, asynchronous culture that empowers employees to balance professional and personal commitments. Working remotely from Brisbane, you will enjoy the flexibility of a flexible schedule, while staying connected to a collaborative team through virtual meetings, shared documentation and real‑time communication tools. Our remote model supports a healthy work‑life balance, reduces commuting time and allows you to focus on delivering high‑quality estimates that drive project success. BENEFITS - Comprehensive health and fitness subsidy to support your well‑being. - Generous parental leave programme and birthday leave. - Access to the Employee Assistance Programme and McNab Wellbeing Programme. - Dedicated internal development opportunities and tailored training programmes. - Competitive salary package, paid time off and a remote working stipend to cover home‑office expenses.
