ABOUT THE ROLE As an Engineering Manager, Growth at GitLab, you will play a critical role in building and enabling a high-performing team that helps users discover, activate, and expand value in GitLab. The Growth team's mission is full-funnel, focusing on acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, and monetization through measurable self-serve loops, while utilizing experimentation to improve the user experience. WHAT YOU'LL DO As an Engineering Manager, Growth, your primary responsibilities will include: - Hiring, coaching, and developing a high-performing team, creating an environment where team members can excel and deliver strong results. - Partnering closely with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering stakeholders to translate business goals, user journey insights, and experiment learnings into product improvements that help users realize value faster. - Fostering a culture that challenges the status quo and leverages AI-native experimentation to find innovative solutions for users. - Balancing technical guidance with people management, guiding architecture and implementation discussions, and ensuring experiments and product changes are built carefully, measured well, and aligned with long-term product ownership. - Collaborating with counterpart groups and smoothly handing off or scaling successful work where ongoing ownership belongs elsewhere. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you will need: - Experience managing product, growth, or development teams, with a track record of building high-performing, values-aligned teams. - A strong technical background and the ability to guide full-stack engineering work, architecture discussions, and pragmatic delivery in a product environment. - Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive async communication and healthy cross-functional operating rhythms.
