Anthropic
Energy Scheduling & Portfolio Lead
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Anthropic is building AI systems that are reliable, interpretable, and steerable, and our Energy Scheduling & Portfolio Lead will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability of the physical infrastructure that powers those systems. The position owns the live view of energy availability across Anthropic’s non‑cloud data center portfolio, aligning contracted and available capacity with planned compute workloads while managing risk and exposure to energy markets. This role is the central point of contact for LSEs, QSEs, scheduling coordinators, and suppliers across domestic and international power markets, and it drives the development of forecasting, portfolio management, and operational processes from the ground up.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will maintain a real‑time dashboard of contracted, available, and committed energy at each site, updating it as deals close, new sites come online, or workload plans shift. You will serve as the operational counterpart to market participants, negotiating and coordinating with utilities, ISOs, and retail suppliers to secure participation in market programs and to manage scarcity pricing and emergency procedures. You will predict and track curtailment events, coordinate load response with site operations, and monitor performance against contractual obligations. You will develop and implement a gas scheduling strategy for behind‑the‑meter plants, negotiating nominations, hub pricing, and pipeline constraints. You will build and maintain energy forecasting models that feed into financial reconciliation, supply planning, and risk assessment. You will collaborate cross‑functionally with energy finance, data center operations, workload planning, engineering, legal, and procurement to keep the physical and financial positions aligned, and you will own the tooling, data pipelines, and processes that support these activities.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You bring at least eight years of experience in energy markets, power scheduling, or utility operations, with a proven track record in ERCOT, PJM, NYISO, MISO, or a comparable ISO/RTO environment. You have hands‑on experience with scheduling, settlement review, and market program participation, and you understand the nuances of ESAs, PPAs, and tariff‑based load flexibility. You are adept at building forecasting models and dashboards, and you have strong analytical skills to interpret market data and translate it into actionable decisions. You possess excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, able to negotiate with suppliers, coordinate with internal teams, and translate technical requirements into clear business outcomes. You thrive in a fast‑paced, distributed environment and are comfortable driving new processes from conception to operational maturity.
WHY REMOTE
Anthropic’s remote‑first culture empowers teams to work asynchronously across time zones, allowing you to collaborate with colleagues in the U.S., Europe, and beyond without the constraints of a traditional office. Your schedule is flexible, and you can structure your day to align with market windows, site operations, and cross‑functional meetings. The distributed model reduces commute time, supports work‑life balance, and attracts top talent from around the globe, ensuring that the best minds in energy and AI can contribute to our mission regardless of location.
BENEFITS
Anthropic offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes competitive health, dental, and vision coverage; a generous paid time off policy; a remote work stipend to support home‑office setup; a learning and development budget; and equity participation. We also provide access to wellness programs, mental‑health resources, and a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
