Director of Engineering, Growth & Monetization

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a seasoned Director of Engineering, Growth & Monetization to lead the development of our systems and product experiences that drive customer adoption, purchase, and expansion with GitLab. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for shaping the technical direction of our API-first monetization platform and guiding multiple teams to deliver customer-centered, compliant, and resilient systems. WHAT YOU'LL DO As the Director of Engineering, Growth & Monetization, your primary responsibilities will include: - Leading the engineering strategy and execution behind the systems and product experiences that help customers adopt, buy, and expand with GitLab - Developing modular, scalable platforms that support seamless customer workflows and reliable business operations - Guiding multiple teams through managers and partnering closely with Product, Design, Finance, Legal, Sales, and Enterprise Applications to deliver customer-centered, compliant, and resilient systems - Shaping the technical direction for our API-first monetization platform and raising the bar for architecture, execution quality, and platform resilience - Aligning engineering strategy across the monetization journey, strengthening core systems and integrations, and helping the organization support new pricing and packaging models with confidence WHAT YOU'LL NEED - A strong background in engineering leadership, with experience in developing and implementing technical strategies - Proven ability to guide multiple teams and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver complex projects - Excellent technical skills, with a focus on API-first development and experience with scalable platforms - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to shape technical direction and drive execution quality - Experience with AI and machine learning integration into monetization platforms is a plus WHY REMOTE GitLab is a remote-first company, and this role is no exception.
