Director IT, Internal Audit

ABOUT THE ROLE We're seeking a seasoned Director of IT Internal Audit to join Instacart's best-in-class Internal Audit function. This leader will bring structure, rigor, and technical depth to deliver risk-based IT audit engagements at executive-quality standards. Reporting directly to the Head of Internal Audit, this role will own end-to-end IT audit delivery while building the function's technology capability and strategic priorities. WHAT YOU'LL DO In this role, you will be responsible for delivering IT audit and advisory engagements with executive-quality standards, clear ownership, and defensible scope. You will apply independent audit judgment consistently across engagements, calibrate scope to actual risk exposure, and translate findings into clear, actionable narratives that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences. You will also develop a high-performing audit team through structured coaching, clear expectations, and tailored development plans. You will integrate AI risk and governance considerations into the audit approach, adopt AI-enabled tools and data analytics to expand coverage, improve efficiency, and enhance audit impact. Additionally, you will implement and administer the Workiva platform, streamlining controls, reducing manual effort, and improving operational efficiency across the audit function. You will build and maintain productive relationships with business leaders and cross-functional partners to implement scalable controls, serving as a trusted advisor across technology and data teams. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need 12-15 years of progressive professional experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing IT risk-based audits at a high-growth, global company. You will have demonstrated experience building a risk-based Internal Audit function from the ground up, with working knowledge of IIA Standards and the ability to apply them in practice.
