Anthropic
Data Center Portfolio Lead
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Anthropic is building the next generation of safe, interpretable, and steerable AI systems, and the scale of that work depends on a reliable compute foundation. As Data Center Portfolio Lead you will own the full lifecycle of our data‑center portfolio, from site selection and partner negotiations to construction hand‑off and operational readiness. You will be the single source of truth for every site’s status, milestones, risks, and decision points, ensuring that all teams have a clear, data‑driven view of where each project stands and what is required to move forward. Your work will directly influence the speed, reliability, and cost efficiency of the infrastructure that powers Anthropic’s AI models.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will manage the portfolio of sites, tracking status, milestones, decisions, open items, and risks for each location. You will lead regular portfolio reviews that align engineering, energy, supply‑chain, and delivery teams on current supply, upcoming decisions, and downstream impacts. You will design and run a stage‑gate framework that standardizes the path from negotiation through lease execution, design and chip lock, construction, and hand‑off to operations, defining criteria, approvals, and owners at each gate. You will collaborate with planning and design to allocate chip capacity ahead of deadlines, ensuring that hardware deployments meet performance and cost targets. You will act as the primary liaison between strategic partners and internal stakeholders, driving execution to critical milestones and maintaining consistency across site selection, design, supply chain, and delivery. Finally, you will develop AI‑driven tooling and data pipelines that automate portfolio updates, providing real‑time visibility to all stakeholders.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You bring proven experience managing large‑scale, capital‑intensive data‑center or comparable infrastructure projects, with a track record of delivering on time and within budget. You have owned external development or partner relationships, holding both parties accountable to commitments and navigating complex negotiations. You have built or run a stage‑gate or milestone framework that achieved full adoption across cross‑functional teams. You possess deep knowledge of the constraints that drive site selection—power, cooling, design, and delivery dates—and can translate those constraints into actionable plans. You have automated reporting through custom tooling or data pipelines, delivering timely insights to stakeholders. Strong candidates will also have program management experience on multiple concurrent builds, consulting or strategy background that brings structure to ambiguous problems, and experience with accelerator or server‑fleet planning and commercial agreements such as leases or framework contracts.
WHY REMOTE
Anthropic embraces a distributed, asynchronous culture that empowers teams to work from anywhere while maintaining tight collaboration through shared tools and regular cadence. Remote work allows you to balance personal commitments with the high impact work of building AI infrastructure, while still participating in weekly syncs, portfolio reviews, and ad‑hoc discussions across time zones. Flexibility in schedule and location reduces commute time, increases productivity, and supports a diverse, inclusive workforce that can bring fresh perspectives to the challenges of scaling compute at scale.
BENEFITS
Competitive salary range of $320,000 to $405,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents. Generous paid time off, including sick leave and paid parental leave. Remote work stipend to cover home‑office setup and internet. Annual learning budget for courses, conferences, and certifications. Access to Anthropic’s employee wellness program, mental‑health resources, and a culture of continuous learning and growth.
