CR281 Customs Agent

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly skilled Customs Agent to join our team at FedEx, responsible for processing, coordinating, and obtaining customs clearance approval for import/export and transshipments of documents, packages, and merchandise in baggage or air freight. This role requires advanced knowledge of customs policies, procedures, rules, and laws, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Customs Agent, you will prepare necessary customs forms to enable import, export, and transshipment procedures to take place in a timely, efficient, and effective manner. This includes preparing Master Airway bills, cargo manifests, and general declarations, invoices, and other related paperwork. You will also prepare forms detailing customs duties, tariffs, and taxes/V.A.T. fees to enable timely recovery of costs. Additionally, you will ensure station compliance with country customs and tax laws and FedEx policies, procedures, practices, and rules. You will interface with customs officials, coordinate customs activities with internal operation employees, and contact customers for additional information and to inform them on duties and taxes to be paid. You will also maintain all customs documentation well organized and properly filed, perform sorting, baggage support at airport and station, and retrieve air freight from carriers as required. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need a high school degree or equivalent, and two years of experience in international freight/cargo customs policies, procedures, rules, and laws, or 18 months of experience as a Customs Agent. Knowledge of airport and customs clearance procedures is preferred. You will also need to be personable, with good written and verbal communication skills, and possess a valid driver's license. General office skills and computer literacy are also essential, with CRT experience and proficiency in English being preferred.
