Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE The Compliance, Trade Surveillance Associate will be a key member of the Market Regulation Department at Coinbase Derivatives, LLC. In this role you will support the integrity of our CFTC‑registered designated contract market by monitoring trade activity, investigating potential violations and ensuring that all regulatory obligations are met. You will work closely with the Chief Regulatory Officer and other regulatory stakeholders to analyze surveillance alerts, conduct investigations into disruptive trading practices and produce the documentation required for a self‑regulatory organization. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will investigate potential trade practice violations such as spoofing, wash trading, money‑pass activity, front‑running, fraud and other disruptive trading activity by CDE participants. You will analyze alerts generated by the trade surveillance system, triage and elevate matters that require heightened review in partnership with Market Regulation leadership. You will produce investigative reports documenting observations, findings and assessments, maintaining compliance with record‑keeping requirements for all inquiries and investigations. You will deliver updates and presentations to the Chief Regulatory Officer, CDE Board and Regulatory Oversight Committee on trade‑activity matters. You will identify patterns and trends across surveillance data that may indicate emerging market risks or systemic compliance gaps, and recommend process improvements to strengthen the program. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You will bring at least three years of experience providing market and trade surveillance support for regulated entities such as DCMs, DCOs, exchanges or broker‑dealers.
